Unsold winter clothes during Lockdown, where will it go?

Leeuwarden - The three-week extension of the lockdown will have disastrous consequences for clothing and footwear retailers if there is no generous compensation for written-off stock. Retailers are left with large collections of unsold winter clothes. Where are all those cable jumpers, thermal leggings and quilted jackets?

January is normally the last month when clothing shops can still sell their winter stock at a reasonable margin. This is traditionally followed by the leanest period of the year until mid-March. There is no more interest in winter coats and jumpers, and consumers find it a bit too early to buy spring and summer clothes.
