What are Kooistra BV's main activities?
Purchase and sale of consumer goods, clothing and shoes. These are mainly obtained from bankruptcies and overstocks. The latter are purchased from importers and wholesalers.
Many containers of trade are also bought up at Western European ports and carriers. Sales are mainly to retail in basically all countries in Europe, but also beyond. Besides the wholesale of remaining stock, we have a warehouse sale in Leeuwarden four times a year and have between 0 and 10 temporary shops under the name Maxx.
What are you most proud of?
We are a very flexible company with a hardworking team. With us, there is always action and no day is the same. For example, if ten of us have to stand in Antwerp tomorrow to unload containers, everyone will be moved from their spot and we will just stand there.
What is currently the biggest challenge?
With the retail sector in Western Europe cracking on all sides, many more stocks are going to be released. We are going to try to buy these, and then pass them on to our customers. At the end of the day, these retail chains also have only one goal - to get their customers over the threshold.
