Omrop Fryslân: Leeuwarden stock buyer positive about new Blokker shops: "Good if that continues"

The stock buyer holds a large part of Blokker’s stock. Kooistra bought up containers of items that were already on their way to the Netherlands when Blokker was declared bankrupt in November last year.
They include pans, microwaves and suitcases that still carry the Blokker brand name.
The Leeuwarden stock buyer had already planned to sell the goods with priority to the few independent shops that were left. But the company is also willing to offer that priority to the new Blokker shops.
“The new owner naturally wants the Blokker items in the shops too,” says Tjitse Lawerman, one of the owners of Kooistra.
“And before he could order them from China himself, you’re a few months further on, while we simply have the stock sitting in Leeuwarden.”
It is not the first time Kooistra has sold goods back to Blokker branches. A large part of the other items in the stock was already sold to the franchisees who carried on.
“In the end we made a deal with them that they have eighteen months to take the whole stock, across all forty branches that are still left.”
But that does not mean there will be nothing left for the new Blokker shops. According to Lawerman, Kooistra.com has a good relationship with the entrepreneur behind them: Roland Palmer.
“He is positive about the contract we concluded with the franchisees, and also about deliveries we may make. He would actually like to open twenty shops within the next two months. And I think we will help him with that.”
If Kooistra sold items from the stock to retail chains other than Blokker, it might be able to make more profit.
“But then it would end up in one of those outlet formats, maybe in the same street as the Blokker branches,” says Lawerman. “And that could be the final blow for the remaining franchisees.”
